Product Design & Development
As a home goods & apparel product developer for the past 8 years, I’ve had the opportunity to shepherd products from initial design roadmap through finished good at companies ranging from 2 to 5000 employees. I’ve found my passions lie in process building, fabric development, establishing traceable, sustainable supply chains, and educating within my teams and externally with customers.
Products
Tuft & Needle
As one of the first 30 hires at T&N, I began and grew their soft goods program from a mattress add on to its own department. Beginning with a simple, Supima cotton percale sheet set, T&N’s soft goods program has grown to accommodate all of their customer’s needs in dressing their bed. The current product offering includes: baby bedding, percale sheets, jersey sheets, linen sheets, quilts, throw blankets, pillows, duvet covers and inserts, as well as collaborations with partners including JetBlue, Calm, and Airstream. Products featured in Forbes, Better Homes and Gardens, Oprah Magazine, HiConsumption, Buzzfeed, HYPEBEAST, Remodelista, Brit + Co., ABC 15, Home Textiles Today, and more.
Danu Organic
At Danu Organic, the founder and I run every facet of the company, so I wear many hats. My primary focus has been collaborating on design, establishing our local LA cut & sew partners, managing production, and naturally dyeing our goods. Danu has given me the hands on opportunity to develop supply chains like I did in the early days of T&N and develop organic, circular products focused on our earth’s and customers’ well-being.
STAUD
At STAUD I’ve grown my ability to manage hundreds of skus per season while maintaining a nimble approach to my work to accommodate ever changing trends.
Considered Details
I consider each detail when designing and producing products. From head and foot indicators on fitted sheets to compostable buttons and organic cotton zipper tape, I strive to make my products as durable, usable, and manufacturing friendly as possible.
High Quality Materials
Each material choice is extensively researched and chosen to give customers the best product possible for a fair price. I love exploring new materials and working on fiber and fabric innovations with my manufacturing partners. Based on the product line and customer segment I am aiming to reach, I dive into the features and certifications that will be most beneficial and explore testing protocols to ensure new materials will meet our quality and sustainability standards. Materials and certifications I’ve worked with include: Supima cotton, Tencel, European Flax, RecoverBlue, Oeko-Tex, Global Organic Textile Standard, and Responsible Down Standard.
Trend Forecasting, Color & Print Design
In order to inform materials, color, and prints, I keep a constant pulse on the interior design, fashion, and design industries. Using trend forecasting tools, gathering my own competitor analysis, running customer surveys, and collecting previous sales data, I create color and print strategies for all of my upcoming soft goods lines.
For the T&N organic baby bedding line, I incorporated trends around geometric playfulness, gender neutral and nature inspired motifs to create our offering of patterns and solids. Meant to be mixed and matched, this line is created with the softest organic cotton that is gentle on your little one and the earth.
Process
Throughout my career, my role has included road-mapping, customer and market research, material research and innovation, printed pattern design, product design and tech pack building, physical prototyping, sourcing, qualifying new vendors and materials, aiding in photoshoot art direction, managing the product through to its launch, and monitoring product performance and customer feedback post-launch.
Included in this process was frequent travel to trade shows, maintaining relationships with manufacturers, and finding and vetting new vendors. I’ve had the opportunity to travel and work hands on with manufacturers both domestically and internationally.
